Design is an inherent part of the Helix50 process. Understanding customer requirements is the first part in the process, the second, and critical to the outcome, is the design solution. We believe it is a necessary part in the process. At the simplest level it re-iterates and confirms the customer requirements. Does it meet the brief? Is it fit for purpose? Is it affordable? Have we reviewed appropriate project funding options?
The design process involves a clear understanding of the requirement - what we are being asked to consider, what are the critical considerations, dependencies and limitations including lack of a capital budget, restricted or conditional access, health and safety etc.
We then produce an outline design of the solution in collaboration with our customer, reach agreement that it meets the brief and move to surveying the site, after which we reach further customer agreement before developing costings in order to get to a substantive design phase.
