While you've probably heard of LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting, you probably don't know what it is, and why you should choose it over incandescent lighting. This page is here to explain that for you and to make your decision to switch to LED an easy one.
So, why choose LED?
For a start, it is estimated that LED light fittings use 75% less energy than their incandescent/fluorescent counterparts. They have an extremely long lifespan in comparison to other forms of lighting, so much so that they're expected to last between 50,000 to 100,000 hours (roughly 62x as long as other types of lighting). Their efficiency levels are at a similarly impressive level, they barely waste any energy at all - meanwhile fluorescent lights lose 90% of their energy as heat - and emit light across 180 degrees rather than the standard 360 seen in fluorescent lights, this is beneficial as there is far less need to reflect or redirect the rays of light.
